Damodar Valley Corporation, popular for its name as DVC, having its head quarter at Kolkata is the first multipurpose river valley project of independent India under the Government of India and other JVC on the lines of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) of USA. DVC is one of the most important and most workable units in India in the field of Thermal and Hydel Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution in the valley areas across the West Bengal and Jharkhand. As Damodar valley Corporation is spread over almost all north-eastern states in India, it has several vacancies of Graduate Engineer Trainees (GET) and Management Trainees (MT) which will be filled by fresh graduate students in specialized disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Information Technology and many others specified bellow.

It is noteworthy that recruitment for all the vacant posts is made through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering i.e. GATE 2012. So only candidates who have already qualified the GATE 2012 can only be eligible to apply for the posts. These posts are vacant in DVC as well as joint venture companies (JVC) of DVC. Application is invited from the all eligible, career oriented candidates who have got a valid score card of GATE 2012. Mode of application is only Online through the official website.

Age Limit:

            There is no mentioning of the minimum age limit for the posts but maximum 29 years as on Jan 1^st 2012 which is mentioned in the official notification of the DVC for GET/MTs. All the age relaxation and reservations are applicable to the reserved categories as per rules.

Pay Scale:

            For GET: Graduate Engineer Trainees will be eligible for the monthly salary of Rs 15600/- as basic pay in the pay band of Rs 39100/-. They will also be paid Rs 5650/- as Grade Pay in the PB 3.

            For MTs: Management Trainees will be given Rs 20600/- as basic pay in the pay band of Rs 46500/-.

All the GETs and MTs are also be able to absorb all the allowances as per rules.

Selection Process:

            Selections for the above posts are made through Group Discussion (GD), Psychometric Test (PT) and Personal Interview (PI) of the shortlisted candidates on the basis of scores of GATE 2012. For the selection process DVC will shortlist the applicants on the basis of GATE written Examination 2012 in the ratio of 1:5(five candidates out of 1 vacancy). Suppose vacancies are 20 then 20*5=100 students will be called for GD, PT and PI.
