Most of the times, the work you are assigned might not be related to what you have learnt in college. And you will be facing situations impromptu. How is it that the recruiter will know your ability to react to such situations? This is where aptitude comes into picture. So, if you are good at Aptitude, which primarily tests your problem solving and analytical skills, you most probably are going to blend into and adapt to any situations.
That is the reason aptitude is now part of most examinations. Be it CAT, GMAT or even GATE.Mind you, campus interviews are no exception.
He who knows not and knows not he knows not: he is a fool
You could be the topper of the college, but you might not be that good at Aptitude. Sometimes, technical knowhow is not just enough. So, if you are not good at something, accept it.
He who knows not and knows he knows not: he is simple
Knowing your weakness, gives you the motivation to overcome it. With a clear picture of what you are good at and what you are not, life becomes pretty easy, coz you already know your enemy. So, work on your faults and mould them into strengths.
He who knows and knows not he knows: he is asleep
There will be folks who are actually good and never realise it. What’s point in being good at something and not being able to apply it anywhere? Build on your strengths, such that it overpowers your weakness. By scoring well in aptitude, you can easily cross the cut-off scores in most interviews.

This, to me is the ideal guy. Just strive to be him
Now, I really cannot tell you how to prepare for aptitude. In my opinion, nobody can. Preparation is an individual attribute. Some of you might be good at probability and for others it might be Greek and Latin. But, I could give you a few advices for your test day.
• Before you start attempting, take 2 minutes and skim the entire section. This will help you identify the easier questions.
• If the first few questions are difficult, start from the end. Sometimes the difficult ones are deliberately put there. Btw, it also helps psychologically
• If you are struck up in resolving some question, GET OUT of that question. It could be from a topic you prepared very well. But that does not mean you spend 10 full minutes on it.
A faculty of mine once told me the following example
“Let’s say you are walking down the road and find a beautiful girl waiting at the bus stop. You naturally start ogling at her and never notice the cow dung and step on it. What would you do next, just because you put one leg, does not mean you have to put the other one too right? So, get out before it’s too late”
So, start working. There’s no better moment than now. Do remember, sometimes you may not succeed. But then “If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same”

The Merriam Webster dictionary defines aptitude as “A Natural Ability To Do Something”. That specifically is what most companies planning to hire you would be looking for, your inherent capability to do/analyse/learn something.
